Overview

Southern coast of Crete always was attractive to visitors. Within centuries people built their settlements close to the shore.
Among such beautiful and ancient places was Matala - ancient port, fishing village, Hippie's resort.
Today Matala is a resort with very unique architecture and flavour of history.
You will have posibility to swim in crystal waters of Lybian sea, explore caves, created in limestone rocks as ancient Roman tombs ( many of them are still unearthed), walk through picturesque and beautiful Matala streets, making your shopping.
And finally you can take your lunch at one of local taverns, which are famous due to of fresh sea food and fish!
Spend this day travelling through Cretan countryside to South and discovering beautiful Lybian sea coast.
